It scares me to think that I have been a student since 1992..
I began my education at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School in Baulkham Hills South. Though I do not remember much from my primary years, there were some very interesting times shared within my circle of friends during our Year 6 Camp to Canberra (particularly on the minibus which we had to ourselves on the trip).
In 1999 I moved onto Our Lady of Mercy College in Parramatta for high school. My high school years were very memorable and I am quite lucky to still regularly see girls that I went to school with. I feel that high school really shaped me in regards to Social Justice, as I was regularly involved with Amnesty International and any Social Justice forums or campaigns we participated in.
In 2005 I began my studies at the Australian Catholic University in Strathfield. Over the years I have undertaken some interesting subjects. My favourites would have been Art and Music, which I didn’t think I would enjoy but surprisingly did. I have developed many skills, but through casual teaching I have been learning so much more about myself as a teacher. With different classes and schools, I am constantly changing my approach and this is constructive learning for my future career.
At the end of 2008 I will conclude my 17 years of learning as a student. I may further my education at a later stage, but at the moment I am keen to get out into the workforce and give myself a break from assignments and readings.
Though I will no longer be a student, in my career as a teacher I will always be learning myself. There are many questions I will have to answer within my lifetime, and I’m actually looking forward to it!
