Teaching is a profession I have always aimed to go into, even from a young age. After completing a week of Work Experience at my primary school (Our Lady of Lourdes in Baulkham Hills), I knew it was for me.
In my final year of high school, all of my top preferences for university were for Primary Education at a number of universities. Sydney University was my top preference, as the glitz and glam of going to uni in the city seemed rather exciting.
With a UAI of 86.1, and the cutoff for USYD being 86.15 in the final round, I accepted an offer from my second preference, the Australian Catholic University.
After my first semester I could have easily transferred to USYD, but after being chucked into the classroom in my 3rd week of uni (much earlier than any other university offering the same course) I grew to love ACU and the relationships I had built with my course buddies.
After a couple of years I began to involve myself in university life through joining the student association and attending national events, and these have truly made my university life memorable.
I am grateful for the friendships I have made with both students and staff at ACU and know that once I leave university to enter the workforce, there will be a sense of emptiness within me.
